Aluminum Chromium master alloy include AlCr5 and AlCr10 according to different Zirconium content in Aluminum Chromium master alloy, which are used for Chromium addition or grain refinement in aluminum alloy.

Addition temperature of Aluminum Chromium master alloy and Chromium burning loss is low when use it to produce aluminum alloys.Usually, Chromium is a common additive element in Al-Mg-Si, Al-Mg-Zn and Al-Mg alloys. Chromium forms (CrFe)AL7 and (CrMn) Al12 intermetallic compounds in aluminum, which hinder the nucleation and growth of recrystallization, strengthen the alloy to a certain extent, improve the toughness and reduce the sensitivity of stress corrosion cracking. At 600 ℃, the solubility of chromium in aluminum is 0.8% only, so the way of Aluminum Chromium master alloy is usually adopted.
